The Divan Centre Accessibility Statement
We have designed this website so that it can be used by a wide audience on a range of platforms. The pages have been built to meet as many of the web content accessibility guidelines 1.0 (level 1) checkpoints as possible. For more information on accessibility visit the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C).
If you think there are improvements we could make, we would welcome your feedback.
Structural Markup
Web pages on www.thedivancentre.co.uk include 4 different areas:
- Top level navigation: Products/Category Links located on the left-hand side.
- Secondary level navigation: 'Site Links' in located at the top, center of each page.
- Main content area
- Footer links
When CSS (Cascading Styles Sheet) are not applied to a document (or when using a screen reader), the 4 areas are read in the above order.
Images
- Unless they are purely decorative items, all images used on this web site have suitable alt attributes.
- Content is usable/accessible with images "off" (disabled).
Flash®
- No Adobe Flash® objects are currently used on this website.
Links
- Links are written to make sense out of context. Links have title attributes to aid navigation.
- The first link in every document is "Skip Navigation"; which allows users to skip directly to what is considered the main section of the page (the content). We have implemented this feature in a way that it allows Internet Explorer users to tab through (past that target link).
- URLs are permanent whenever possible.
Forms
- All form controls are appropriately and explicitly labeled.
Scripts
- We are using non obtrusive client-side scripts.
- Content of this web site is still usable without JavaScript support.
Pop up Windows
- This site does not use pop-windows currently.
Visual Design
- This site uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual layout.
- This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
- If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
- Any information conveyed through the use of color is also available without color (i.e. text based)
